I should have pulled the trigger on this chair a couple years ago, but no I continued to use the antique court room chair my ex found at a yard sale and had refinished for me and it looks beautiful. I do expert witness work for lawyers and it never fails that at the last minute they need some report that has to be filed in the next day or two. This means I may be sitting in front of my computer for 5, 6 or even more than 10 hours to get what is needed for filing. I had a really nice orthopedic pad made to help with comfort but I would still get such a stiff back that not only did it hurt but I started getting numbness and tingling in my feet and toes. I was having lunch with a friend and she was talking about her son having a “date” to play Fortnite and he would play online with friends for hours. She sent me a picture of his gaming chair when she got home and there really isn’t much difference sitting in front of a computer researching and writing reports for hours or playing video games online for hours. Prices for very similar looking chairs can vary by several hundred dollars and after reading product reviews for the short list I was considering I found that they were most likely the same chair, same manufacture, if not the same packaging then just different printing because the size and shipping weight were the same. Read the reviews and not just the 5 star reviews, I often start with the 1 & 2 star reviews first. It seems that I get details that are more honest on them than the 4 & 5 star reviews, I say this as I write a glowing 5 star review, which I can do because I didn’t find any poor reviews that were not a simple one line criticism that seem most often to be buyers remorse than a real issue. This purchase was the least expensive of 4 I was considering and after a little research I’m sure they were all the same chair with $300+ separating this chair and the most expensive one. If I get 1 or 2 years of comfort and wear out of it before I move, I’ll just by another and have it shipped to my new home and leave this for anyone who wants or can use it. Easy to assemble, rolls like a dream, holds its height adjustment, easily adjust to any height, arm rest are really comfortable and it’s not too hot after sitting for a couple of hours. I would by this chair again and as my business is expanding I’ll get them for my employees.

I had an annoying intermittent throbbing pain in one leg for a long time. The doctor had me doing various knee, ankle, and hip exercises. None of those helped. I bought this office chair totally unrelated to my leg issue. I’ve been using the lumbar support and after a 3-4 weeks my leg issue has went away. I am not kidding you! Needless to say, I love the chair, but the arms are a bit short for me. Nonetheless, I still love it.

Lumbar support is great for my back. The folding up arms make it easy to push the chair under you desk, without having to adjust the seat height, each time you get out and leave it for the day.

I went back and forth for a few months perusing office chairs to replace my old IKEA model which was shedding terribly (it was around 8 years old so that make sense). One of the big things for me and my purposes was to find a chair that had flip up arms. One thing I do in my chair is practice guitar. Having flip up arms is huge for that as it allows you to sit a little more naturally without the arm rests getting in the way of the guitar’s body. I originally looked at the OFM essentials chair as it was much cheaper with the flip back arm feature. However, there were so many mixed reviews, and reviews a year down the road that had shown the chair breaking or losing it’s support. I didn’t want to risk it. For someone who spends a lot of time in front of their computer, I decided to look elsewhere and found this option for about $70 US more. Way fewer reviews, but all of them were very positive. So, I took a chance here.

I literally am typing this review after unboxing and setting up my chair, so I’m giving the legit first impressions.

SUPPORT – 5 stars here because I haven’t had to use the customer support at all yet.

EASY TO ASSEMBLE – 5 stars ** please read the asterisks below ** Overall I found the instructions super easy. I had unboxed and assembled the chair in about 30-45 minutes. I was taking my time though, if I had to set up another one of these it could be done in 15 minutes. I didn’t have any help and did this by myself. The chair comes with a really handy hex bolt key that seems of quality. Casters pop right into the base of the chair, there are only 8 hex bolts that are used to attach the arms and back, and everything else just pops right in. There are also 8 bolt covers that you can use if you want to hide the bolts on the arms. They seem to fit snugly and wouldn’t pop out from general use. I saw one review that said otherwise, but to me they even would require a rubber mallet to put on. However, I put one on and then opted out of the others. I don’t mind how it looks without the covers on, and I’ve moved enough to know that disassembly will save me space in the long run. But, if you’re not planning on disassembly down the road, then the bolt caps are a nice option to have.

COMFORT – 4 stars. This is the most comfortable computer chair I’ve had, including when I worked corporate jobs for ten years. However, I am skinny. I’m about 5’8 and 155 lbs. I have a skinny butt. The base of this chair fits me really well, but even I can feel the “wings” of the seat against my outer thighs. The padding seems super sturdy, it’s not soft. So, if you’re a bigger person, this is something you may want to consider when you’re browsing for new chairs. Also, even at the lowest settings, my feet kind of dangle. I love the feel and look of the velvet. There seems to be sturdy lumbar support. We will see how this chair holds up over time. I may come back and update this to 5 stars, or maybe drop it depending on how it holds up. It would have been nice to see them include a head rest pillow like some other gaming chairs have, but this is really no big deal to me.

** PLEASE READ THIS! ** Ok, so I must admit I did have an issue during the setup of this chair. I can’t dock the design or assembly instructions, however. I got everything all set up, and everything seemed to work fine, the chair lock works, the arms flipped back easily enough… but, when I went to use the gas lift to raise the chair.. nothing. I tried investigating the mechanism to see if the flipper was hitting the button on top of the gas lift, but the housing made that impossible. Maybe I got a bad gas lift? I was unsure, but I kept probing and pressing on. Sometimes, new gas lifts need to be pulled up to get a jump start on moving. So, I disassembled the actual mechanism from the chair base (it comes preinstalled), yanked on it, and it didn’t move. But, I did pull the chair legs from the gas lift. So, I was eventually able to get the gas lift off of the chair base mechanism. In the end I had disassembled the chair base more than how it ships to get access to the gas lift. So, to test the gas lift button, I just flipped it over on my hardwood floor and pushed. It popped loose and started working. I would recommend doing this BEFORE you install the gas lift to the legs of the chair (basically that’s step 1 of the instructions), so just pop the button upside down on hard floor to ensure it’s not stuck. I reassembled and now the chair works as it should.

    PROS:
    – initial impression is high quality. Great feel for the velvet. The padding seems sturdy
    – flip back arms for storage or playing guitar like my purposes
    – rollerblade type wheels make almost no noise on hardwood floor, super easy to glide, so smooth
    – good lumbar support
    – skinny-er seat forces you to sit straight compared to other chairs where you can move all over the place with bad posture

    CONS:
    – made for skinny butts
    – gas lift didn’t work right away, but again that’s not the chairs fault, that can just be any new gas lift being stuck
    – even lowest settings, your feet can dangle. I’m 5’8 and the lowest settings my feet aren’t fully flat on the ground.

I really think I’m going to love this chair and hope to update my review to a 5 star. I just want to wait and see how it holds up.
