But that’s not why I’m writing a review. I’m writing a review because of the incredible customer service. In 2024, FIVE YEARS after initial purchase, the seat was, of course, long-since flat, and I wasn’t happy with any of the “aftermarket” options to lay on top of it. On a whim, I reached out to Duramont to see if they’d be willing to sell me JUST the seat; a longshot, but there was nothing to lose. To my surprise, not only were they willing and able to ship the part, they didn’t even ask for payment, despite the chair being WELL out of any warranty. It arrived and worked perfectly, and now, with the arm rests replaced as well (easy to find here on Amazon), the five year old chair is effectively as good as new. This makes the product MUCH more valuable as far as I’m concerned: instead of paying $300 for a 3 or 4 year chair, then having toss it and get another, I can theoretically keep this one chair going for as long as Duramont stays in business (For the record, I’m more than happy to pay basic cost + shipping for any future parts). I WISH more products were like this: durable and repairable, instead of cheap crap I have to throw out and replace every few years. For the sake of the environment, and our wallets, here’s hoping.

It has all the height and back adjustments we were looking for in a new office chair.
One small note: As Duramont indicates, the arms move up and down but the arm rests do not translate in and out. If that’s a feature you require, then you’ll need to look elsewhere.
The chair was well packed and protected from today’s typical rapid and often brutal delivery.
Assembly was easy to follow with the pictured instructions. The written instructions are a somewhat clunky translation to English but you won’t have any trouble deciphering their meaning.
The supplied fasteners were extremely well organized in an individually labeled blister package. Duramont also supplies extra fasteners and washers.
The bolts come with tread locker already applied to the threads. Duramont also includes a T-handle hex 5mm Allen wrench which makes the assembly must more convenient.
If you have you own 12mm six-point socket wrench, it will make attaching the chair back to the seat slightly easier but it can still be completed with their supplied T-handle Allen wrench.
This is one of the best and most well-executed self-assembly supplied packaging we have seen from any company. Other companies could learn some lessons from Duramont.
Everything went together exactly as indicated in the instructions, bolts threaded in smoothly by hand, and nothing had to be forced together during assembly.
We recommend this Duramont office chair. It is a high-quality product in both materials and design.

The chair assembly is easy and well labeled. The adjustments are good. The soft wheels are terrific. The seat is too firm and the lumbar support is too hard. I use my lumbar cushion instead. It reduces the depth of the seat to the point it’s just a bit short.
I give 4 stars for ease of assembly and price. If you do not need extra lumbar support, the chair is quite servicable. If you are willing to spend $500 for a major name chair, you will be happier.

I have used this chair for a week now and it is very comfortable.

I used this chair for 7-8 hours a day for 4 years. After about a year, I noticed it would lean back easier and easier. So even if I just wanted to sit up with some back support, it would sink back and I would be practically reclining. I did some adjustments, problem solved. Rinse and repeat about once a month for two years and gradually the adjustments became harder and harder to make.
In the third years the plastic attaching the back to the base broke and the back was permanently leaning back a little bit. Not a huge deal, so I lived with it. But it slowly broke more and more until eventually I effectively had a stool.
I did some jury rigging with industrial glue, and got it last another year. Then today I noticed the tension for the base was leaking onto the ground. Probably because I’d had to tighten it so much over the years to prevent it from leaning when I didn’t want.
After trying to fix it, i have lost all control of the lean function and the I am left with a floppy stool.
I still got my money’s worth without a doubt. But I just found it quite surprising that it didn’t last as long as those $70 chairs I’d get at office max. It makes sense when I think about it: this chair had a lot more moving parts and thus a lot more points of failure.
All this being said, I think I’ll stick with cheap chairs that stay at the same comfort level for longer, even if it isn’t nearly as nice as when the more expensive chair was brand new.
