Ok, so you’re going to want to read this in its entirety as it contains information I wanted to know but couldn’t find in any of the reviews or manufacturer comments.

First off, WOW! This is going to sound like a shill review, but I assure you: I am a real person with no ties whatsoever to this company. I am a composer for film and TV shows with a home studio that is…well, it’s expensive. While everything is insured and I keep redundant offsite backups of my files, it would still spell potential disaster for my career if my gear was stolen; when you’re working with 12 hour deadlines for international clients you don’t really get to say, “er, my studio was stolen and it’ll be two weeks before I can replace it,” because that’s when they say, “cool, well we’re going to find another composer.” To replace and rebuild a studio takes a lot of time.

Because of this, I get extremely paranoid every time I go out of town. I just went on my honeymoon last week and purchased this camera to try to provide a bit of piece of mind, and it did that and more. Read on.

This camera does one thing, and it does it efficiently and in a way that I can’t conceive of being more user friendly than it is: it monitors your home and alerts you to any and all kinds of activity that involve changes in the space-time continuum. Considering that thieves and fires both exist within space-time, this camera has you covered.

Not only does it alert you to any potential baddies looking to sack your castle, but it captures more than enough visual evidence to get a conviction. When it detects any motion, it immediately starts recording in crisp 1080p quality, and it doesn’t need a whole lot of light to capture clear images.

Quick rabbit trail: I see people complaining that it “only” records 6 seconds of video (which does include audio). Boo hoo. This is not a surveillance camera; it is a monitoring system, and it’s a damn good one.

Traditional home security systems can be problematic; for every 100 false alarms there might be one legitimate alert, but by then your local PD probably won’t take it too seriously. It’s also an issue when you have guests, and constantly needing to remember to punch in codes and the like just isn’t my style. Having your dog shot or your door broken down by the police because a mouse tripped a motion sensor while you were vacationing in Bermuda is no bueno. This puts your home security in YOUR hands.

So let’s cover some important details:

-Just to recap, this camera sends an alert to your device (it’s compatible with all major mobile device iOS’s) and records 6 seconds of beautiful, high quality video and audio when it detects any motion. You can choose to discard or save the video. Choosing the latter option saves it to the drive on your mobile device.

-You can at your leisure “check” your camera, which allows you to monitor your home in real time. It doesn’t record anything when you do this; it is simply live streaming what is happening in your home at that moment.

-It must be plugged in at all times, which is actually preferable; batteries introduce one more point of potential failure in a device that, above all else, needs to be reliable.

-It must have access to wifi at all times (kind of a no brainer, but I figured I should mention it).

-IMPORTANT (and very cool): multiple people can log into your account at the same time. This means that if you’re going on vacay somewhere where cell reception might be spotty, you can get two or three of your closest mates to download the app, give them your login info, and ask them to enable alerts from the app. They would then be alerted just as you are when any activity is detected and will have access to the video.

So yeah, in my not so humble opinion this camera is a huge win for anyone looking to work on their home security game. Buy it with confidence. It is an unusually fantastic product.

I know they are marketed for indoor use but I used them outside to check around the house and keep an eye out on my dogs when they are in the backyard. They have withstood excessive wind, storms and hectic desert weather. I luckily live in a manufactured home and plug were near the opening I needed them at so it was easy enough to wire through. I had 10ft long cords so I swapped those out and since they have a metal bottom on the stand I was able to repurpose some magnets I had that I screwed into the wall under the roof to provide some protection so they are held up by magnet rather then screwed directly into the wall. This was in case I needed to bring them in to keep them from frying but while They do get wet , i guess the end of the roof is enough protection to keep them working. There have been no shortages and have been working strong for over 4 months. Picture is clear enough better than convenience store footage. I’m not picky and they have provided everything I needed although the speaker might be messed up because I don’t hear anything through it. The microphone works fine I don’t used it. Honestly will probably buy more because of how easy to use.

I love these little devices for how much they cost. I started by buying a pack of 4 and less than a day later I ordered 5 more. I was sold on being able to see 9 cameras at once like one of the product images shows…unfortunately that is only for the PC desktop version so far. The Mac version only shows 4 cameras at a time. There is a hack you can find online on how to launch the same program twice on a Mac, so then you could have 8 cameras showing up on two monitors if you really wanted. And the Ios app is pretty good too except that you can only go into one camera at a time, the rest of the cameras show up as an old thumbnail until you tap into it. would love to see more of a live feed on my phone. The two way audio on these isn’t great, but it is so amazing to be able to chat with someone at the door step and not be there. I have to say that I didn’t buy these so much for protecting my home from outside intruders as much as basically monitoring what my 4 boys are doing all throughout our home. I loved having the cameras so much that I went ahead and bought 9 of the 32 GB mini SD cards to put in each one of them so that I now I could go back in time and review footage! I ask my son for a drink and it turns out he was shaking it up. Someone gets hurt, we can go review the footage. Been able to catch the kids doing white lies. See who is beating up on who. Been able to check in on them and make sure they are doing there chores. Its like having an extra set of 9 eyes in the home. Kids need near constant supervision or they are bound to destroy stuff, make huge messes or get into fights with each other and of course I have one that points out away from home for more checking the front yard, traditionally type security. Wish the cables were longer, but I’m sure you could find a similar cable to do the trick. Also each one of them has to be plugged into a power source and then you just hook it up to your WIFI internet. The other really cool thing is when you are out and about or anywhere with an internet connection and you can just login on your phone and monitor the feed of your cameras. One time I saw the dog up on the table and I turned on the two way audio and said “Cody! get down!” and he got down. like I said the audio back and forth isn’t that great, but it can get the job done. the picture quality is suprisingly good for like 20 bucks a pop. For me to able to have 9 cameras running with SD cards and ZERO cloud subscriptions and zero ongoing fees all for under $300 I thought was a pretty good deal.

Cons: one of my cameras was not showing great color…it had a pink hue to them…I wrote into support and got some automated messages, but never heard back any answers to my questions.

Another one is having issues connecting, despite turning off and on and hard resetting. And another one has some dead pixels which kind of bother me.

Also the desktop app…..the feeds time out after 30-60 min and it keeps making me refresh the thing. I dont like that considering what these are… a live feed of cameras for security purposes….that really should just sit running 24/7 kind of thing …I keep leaving feedback on their app, who knows where it goes though.

oh I was going to say that I use my power that my house had setup for the Christmas lights…that is how I power the two cameras by the door.

So I am actually returning the 3 cameras that had the issues and Amazon gives me 14 days to send them back meanwhile the new ones should be here by tomorrow or so….so a pretty painless return process…although all returns are kind of annoying.

I have 9 right now …. but I am already scheming where I could use more coverage. Point one at the Backyard? The chicken coop? The hallway?

So I do love them….also like the ability to turn off the status light so they don’t draw as much attention. So despite some of the issues mentioned, I’m happy with what I got, going to replace these 3 and possibly add more to the fleet down the road. If you found this helpful, drop me a like!

Go ahead and buy them already! You wont regret it…..and just get the SD cards now too while you are at it!
