I received my Rowenta Steamer the other day and it worked great on my new “black out curtains.” The curtains were wrinkled and didn’t look that good. I was able to use the steamer as the curtains were hanging. It has a few settings, but I kept mostly on the medium steam setting. It took less than 10 minutes to finish two panels. The only thing is that it goes through water pretty quickly. I’m finding Rowenta makes some good quality products.

Having used Rowenta irons for several years, I knew I could trust their products. This handheld steamer is very powerful. It has 300 steam vent holes instead of just a row or two like most handheld steamers. That said, it is more suited for home use than for travel. It weighs about 3 pounds, so it is heavier than most handhelds. It can be used as both a vertical steamer for hanging garments, and also horizontality like a steam iron on an ironing board. I love that there are multiple steam settings.
If you are looking for a steamer to use in lieu of an iron, this is it! If you need a lighter weight handheld travel steamer, Rowenta makes those also.

This baby is easily the “Cadillac” of garment steamers, and I haven’t even used it on an actual garment yet! I purchased it because I’m swapping out all the Stone Age window treatments in my house for newer, better looking drapery, and nothing arrives more wrinkled in the mail than curtains/drapes that have made the trip on a slow boat from China. Typical Rowenta quality, well made and fairly heavy (2.95 lbs), despite being described as “lightweight” by the manufacturer. At 1,875 watts, it heats up within seconds, and has several heat settings: low, medium, high, super high, and boost, with super high being most effective on those wrinkled drapes from China. It works horizontally as well, so would make an excellent “2 for the price of 1” appliance; you really wouldn’t necessarily need a regular clothes iron if you don’t do that much ironing, but if you do, I’d recommend the next model up, which includes a microfiber attachment intended to capture lint and hair while you’re ironing your garments. Easy to use straight out of the box, no setup or assembly needed. Just add water to the reservoir and plug it in. Decent value as well, generally about what other manufacturers are charging for a garment steamer of similar quality and capability. Considerations: it does take up a little real estate at 11.8” L x 8.66” W x 6.69” H; and the water reservoir is a measly 7.1 oz., which gets used up pretty quickly when you’re steaming 7’ H x 52” W drapery. A big plus is the 8.5’ cord, which is especially handy in a Stone Age house with electrical outlets few and far between. Highly recommended!

This steamer is really powerful and does everything that it says it does! I’m impressed so far. It is easy to use! It does not come with any type of bag to store it in, which isn’t a deal breaker, but would have been nice. It is light and easy to hold, and I really like the trigger-style button that allows you to control when the machine releases steam. It heats up very quickly. It is a tad bulky, but I imagine they have to put all that power somewhere in the machine, so I’m happy with the trade-off between size and power!

I have concerns as to how long the water cartridge connection system will last. Everything just kind of clicks in and out of place, with no easy release buttons or clips.

Works great, easy to use , gets wrinkles out fast

Defects happen and I was unfortunate enough to receive one. The pump motor was very loud when first turning the unit on but the level of steam was low. I changed the setting to High and the steam level increased but the flow was intermittent. It would slow down to the point no steam would come out and if I tilted the iron it would suddenly shoot out a burst of steam. I tried using the continuous flow feature by double pressing the trigger but after about 2 minutes the unit would stop on its own despite the water tank still having plenty left. I removed and reseated the water tank a couple of times and followed the instructions to prime the pump but nothing corrected the irregular steam flow or the premature shut down when using the continuous flow feature.

I still attempted to use the steamer and had to fill the water tank twice just to steam one cotton t shirt and it’s still wrinkled.

Aside from the poor performance, I waited a week and a half in anticipation of this steamer and was super excited after reading all the great reviews, but now I have to wait another week and a half to get a replacement. Super bummed. I have owned nothing but Rowenta irons for over 20 years and associate the name with quality. Unfortunately, I have to give this product 1 star.

It works great, strong steam that makes it very easy to iron. A little on the heavy side, but great quality.

  8. Love it

Really good quality and the lint roll part works great.
